Ilulissat - Oqaatsut boatshuttle

Fast and secure at sea between town and settlement

Sail with us in the comfortable and safe Targa boat, which is approved by the Danish Maritime Authority to sail between Oqaatsut (Rodebay) and Ilulissat. NOTE Possibility to purchase dinner at Restaurant H8 Explorer. Read below.

Oqaatsut is a little settlement with approx. 25 inhabitants residing in an area 18 km north from Ilulissat, which is approximately half an hour of sailing in our speedy, but very safe boat, which type is the most popular in Greenland both by sailors/locals and visitors alike.

We board easily and conveniently from the gangway below Hotel Hvide Falk and quickly head north - or south if you sail from the village and back again to Ilulissat. On the route there is plenty to look at, partly the 70 million year old volcanic Disko Island to the port side (or west) and the mainland on the starboard side outward.

Soon we will have passed the airport and the popular Bredebugt, where there are a lot of cabins and which you can also wander around the coast - a walk that can be done between 6 and 9 hours depending on the form and purpose of your visit.

Oqaatsut is an incredibly beautiful village that can take an entire day to enjoy and explore – and even spend an evening at a cozy cabin – since there’s also a good restaurant located there. H8 Explorer is a restaurant and kayak center with overnighting opportunities and delicious Greenlandic food, and will give your sailing trip the authenticity of something even rarer: the silence and grandeur of a small area surrounded by magnificent nature all year round.

We sail between Ilulissat and Oqaatsut three times a day during the summer season.
