Ice Sheet
Forge your path on the polar ice sheet
As the second largest body of ice in the world after the Antarctic Ice Sheet, the Greenland Ice Sheet covers an area of 1,710,000 sq. km. (660,000 sq. mi.), or roughly 80% of Greenland. You will never forget your first encounter with this massive ice sheet – the endless whiteness, the blue skies and deafening silence as you listen only to the sounds of your own breath. Kangerlussuaq is the only town in Greenland with a road leading straight to the edge.
