Evening kayaking

Enjoy evening outings

Paddle among fascinating icebergs and witness the overwhelming beauty of the Ilulissat Icefjord up close.

Kayaking in Ilulissat is, without a doubt, the best way to experience the incredible Ilulissat Icefjord. Being at the sea level, without any sound and just using your own body to paddle among icebergs, makes it an extraordinary way to discover the Unesco World Heritage site.

Our evening tours are special because of the lights. We often paddle out under the incredible midnight sun or during the colorful sunset. The entire sky turns red, purple and orange, while the icebergs reflect the beautiful colours of the evening sun.

For more than 4,000 years, the Inuits have used the “qajaat” (traditional kayaks) for travelling and hunting in Greenland and especially in the area of Ilulissat. Our experienced guide will explain you about the amazing icebergs and the fascinating story of the original kayak, which was made from sealskin and wood.

Safety and comfort has the highest priority

Thanks to our certified kayak-guides, modern equipment and safety protocols, we make it possible for you to kayak in this incredible landscape, even if you have never been kayaking before. For many of our guests it’s their first time in a kayak and we take pride in providing a safe and comfortable experience for everybody. We use double kayaks which are more stable in the water than single kayaks.

All our kayak guides are certified IPP Kayaking Instructors complying with 'European Paddle Pass Standards'. All our equipment is expedition-gear made for Arctic conditions from quality brands like Kokatat, Hiko og Lightning Paddles.

Time spent on water is approximately two hours.
