Oqaatsut: Arctic Outdoor Adventure

Hiking and Kayaking - multiple days

Join us for the ultimate Arctic adventure north of Ilulissat. We hike to the beautiful settlement of Oqaatsut, eat traditional meals, explore and sleep in this isolated and incredible place, kayak between icebergs and learn about Greenlandic culture and history.

This two-day tour is for the adventurers, who really want to explore the nature and culture of Greenland. We will hike, paddle, sail, and - if you are up for it - swim in the incredible nature. You will eat different local meals and stay for the night in the amazing Oqaatsut. During the two days of adventurous activities, there will be plenty of time to learn about Greenlandic culture and history.

We start of the first day by hiking towards Oqaatsut, which is located 20 kilometers north of Ilulissat. Most of the hike is relatively flat, but we will have to cross a few small hills, canyons and streams. During most of the tour, we will hike next to the beautiful Disko Bay full of icebergs and enjoy the many great views along the trail. Your guide will serve you lunch during the hike and explain you about the area.

Eat and stay with the locals

Once in Oqaatsut, formerly Rodebay, we settle in our rooms and explore the settlement and its stunning surroundings, before we end the day with a traditional dinner.

Next day after breakfast, we will get ready to kayak. Our experienced and certified kayak guide, modern equipment and safety protocols make it possible for you to kayak in the beautiful surroundings of Oqaatsut, even if you have never been kayaking before. After a thorough briefing, we will paddle out to explore the massive icebergs and fascinating caves along the shore.

As we are done kayaking, we will enjoy a traditional Greenlandic lunch and you have time to walk around the settlement on your own. At the end of the day, we will be picked up by boat and return to Ilulissat.
