On this tour we will be taken to a local family's dogs, and learn about the tradition of dog sledding in Greenland. We will see the equipment used, and get a sense of how much work is attached to this way of life. We will hear stories of adventures on the dogsled, and get a chance to greet the dogs, who - unlike most other sled dogs - are used to close contact with humans.
Due to Greenland's isolated location, and a keen awareness of the sled dog's unique abilities, breeders have placed great importance on maintaining the breed's purity and imposed strict regulations to prevent crossbreeding. These efforts have ensured the Greenlandic sled dogs is one of the world's purest breeds.
This tour gives a unique insight to the Greenlandic traditions!
