Full day hike to Oqaatsut

Imagine hiking and exploring the shoreline with mountains, lakes and small streams on one side and the Disko Bay with drifting icebergs from the Icefjord on the other! And, to top it off, we will end the hike with a delicious 3 course dinner in Restaurant H8 in Oqaatsut before a scenic boat ride back to Ilulissat!

One of the most popular hiking trails for those who love to spent a day in the nature is the trail from Ilulissat to Oqaatsut. A hike of 20 kilometers passing the most beautiful sceneries and viewpoints. Hiking in nature gives a much more detailed view of the many floras, the wildlife, and the many different colours presenting in nature. You will experience the quiet in the middle of this majestic nature.

During the hike, we will take break and enjoy a lunchbox (included in the tour). We will find a good spot with stunning views - which isn't hard to find! After a well deserved rest, we will continue the hike until we reach Oqaatsut. The hike usually takes 6-7 hours in total.

When we arrive in Oqaatsut, a wonderful 3 course dinner will be served at Restaurant H8 Explorer; a meal that centeres around Greenlandic fish or meat, served in beautiful surroundings of Oqaatsut's serene views.

Once we have finished our dinner, the boat we will be ready to take us back to Ilulissat. What could be better than finishing a day in the Arctic nature than a boat ride among hundred of thousands years old ice!

The hike is approximately 20 kilometers with some gradual ascents along the way. Most of the route goes through fairly flat terrain without major climbs, but since the entire hike takes place in the mountains, you should expect a few ups and downs.

Please bring a small backpack you can carry for your lunchbox and a water bottle. The guide will bring coffee/tea for the hike.

We recommend that you bring a pair of dry socks for when we arrive in Oqaatsut, since some areas on the hike can be a little bit wet from streams and lakes. If you feel most comfortable using hiking poles, you are very welcome to bring those as well.
