Arctic Ride - snowmobile | Albatros Arctic Circle

The backcountry of Ilulissat offers great landscapes to be discovered. Together with our guide we will explore snowy valleys and mountains, drive across frozen lakes and discover the greatness of the Arctic landscape.

The tour begins with us gearing up in warm clothing and boots, while our guide introduces us to some safety rules, and the program for the excursion. We drive to our snowmobile garage, and here we will be guided in how to steer the machine, and repeat the safety protocols for driving.

Once we are ready, 2-and-2 on the snowmobiles we will follow our guide on the prepared route over the mountains, across the frozen lakes, and into the backcountry. The route has an unbeatable scenery and various breathtaking viewpoints of Ilulissat, Disko Bay, the Icefjord and even the Ice Cap. At one of the viewpoints, we will take a break, turn of the engines and enjoy the silence of the majestic nature along with a nice, warm beverage, before we head back towards the city.

To drive the snowmobile, participants must be minimum 18 years old. Participants under the age of 18 must book together with a person above the age of 18 years.

No previous experience is required, but it requires that you are comfortable handling motorized vehicle, that you are able to shift the weight of your body while driving the snowmobile, and in general that you have good physical mobility and understanding of driving.

Each snowmobile will have two participants: 1 driver and 1 passenger. It is possible to swift places during the tour. If you have booked the tour as a single or in an uneven number, you will share a snowmobile with someone you don't know. If there is an uneven number of participants in the group, the guide will choose who will drive the snowmobile alone.

Warm clothing, boots, and helmets is a part of the tour. We recommend you wear warm, wool inner layers and socks, a hat, gloves, and a buff.
