Ilulissat: Winter Adventure
- Snowmobiling & snowshoeing day
Our day starts with a safety briefing and an introduction to the snowmobile and hiking gear. When we are all set, we will drive to a small hunter’s hut in the beautiful area behind Ilulissat by snowmobile. The route takes around an hour and a half, where we will follow the dogsled way. This same way is used by fishermen from Ilulissat to go fishing in the frozen fjord of Sikuiuitsoq (in Greenlandic: place that always has ice).
Along the way we will stop at several great viewpoints to experience the impressive panoramic views of the Ilulissat Icefjord and the ice cap.
We will leave the snowmobiles at the hunter´s hut, put on our snowshoes and continue walking inside the UNESCO area, where the snowmobiles are not allowed.
Continue the adventure on snowshoe
We will continue our adventure over the frozen sea and the small mountain next to the hut. The guide will choose the best itinerary according the weather, safety and the physical condition of the group. This snowshoe hike will last around 1 hour.
After the hike we will stop for lunch. Then we will ride our snowmobiles back to Ilulissat, following the same way we came.
