Dogsledding might be the most iconic and authentic way to experience Greenland's Arctic wilderness.

For centuries, Greenlandic sled dogs have been an essential part of life in the north, used for transportation, hunting, and survival in one of the world's harshest environments.

Traditionally, dog sleds are used by hunters and fishers to travel across vast stretches of snow and sea ice in search of seals, fish, and other resources. In many parts of northern and earstern Greenland, this way of life continues today, and sled dogs remain an active part of the local community.

Besides being used for hunting and transportation, dog sled races has become a sport in Greenland with local, regional and national competitions and championships. It is a highlight during winter where entire cities gather out in the snowcovered landscape and cheers for the participants racing out into the wilderness on their dogsleds.

Dog sledding in Greenland is not just a transportation or a tourist actitivty - it is a part of our cultural practice, passed down through generation after generation with knowledge of the land and respect for nature.
