Dogsled Ilulissat
Experience one of the oldest traditions in Greenland – the dogsled!
The experience of the quiet nature, the dogs paws in the snow and the musher’s way of communicating with the dogs, is an experience you will never forget. It gives an insight in a world that today, and for many hundred years, has been vital for Greenland, the fishermen and hunters.
Two-and-two you will be on the sledge while the musher stands behind you, and safely steers you over the snow. The route goes from the edge of the city over frozen lakes, where the large mountains are right next to you. From here the musher and dogs takes you up north where the airport is located. A little north from here you will enjoy a warm beverage before heading back to Ilulissat.
The sledge tour takes approx. 1-1,5 hours. We recommend warm clothes, especially something that can cover your face. It is quite cold on sled, but an experience you don’t want to miss out on!
Please be aware that we do not recommend this excursion for you if you have leg, back or neck pain. Minimum age is 8 years old.
If you book the excursion alone, you might be seated on the sledge with a person you do not know.
