Mads Pihl - Visit Greenland

Dog Sledding Tour

- Experience the Greenlandic winter scenery from the traditional dog sled

Join this traditional and exiting dog sled tour, where you will drive through the incredible Greenlandic winter scenery, as the Inuit have done for thousands of years.

You will join our driver, with many years of experience, on this scenic tour through the backcountry of Ilulissat. Up and down snow-covered hills, across frozen lakes and stop at some amazing viewpoints. You will only hear the working dogs and the sled sliding through the snow, as you escape into the wild.

During the trip, there will a rest to stretch the legs, have a hot drink and pet the dogs.

The sled dogs and the sleds have been an important part of the Greenlandic culture and survival for thousands of years. They made it possible to transport people, food, and goods during the cold and harsh winters.

There has always been sled dogs in Ilulissat, and even though the numbers have gone down in the past 50 years, there are still thousands left. The sled dogs will always be an icon of Ilulissat.
